Historical Costumes in a Hurry

34

I know you've been lying awake at night wondering what I have been doing the last few days, right?  Wait.  Don't answer that.  Let's just pretend you have, okay?

We are in the full swing of the holiday season at Gallimaufry Grove.  All but one of our birthdays span from October through January, plus all the holidays and church functions, so I have been flying from one party preparation whirlwind to the next.  This week alone, in addition to our regular activities, we had a birthday party on Monday, a Youth Thanksgiving party on Wednesday and we have a church Thanksgiving Fellowship on Sunday.  Oh, and an orthodontist appointment -- that's always a fun party.

The kids' Thanksgiving party was historically themed, so I have been busy making costumes. The teens were allowed to choose any American History figure up to about 1850.  So I have been sewing a dress and gluing my fingers to making a hat.  The kids had a great time.

My teens have stepped back in time...
Or not.

If you are interested, I used Simplicity pattern 3723 to make the dress.  I loosely followed this post to make the colonial tri-fold hat but the rest of Mustache's outfit was just a closet raid. Just in case you want to whip together a cool outfit for Thanksgiving.  Or something.

Now I need to go catch some zzz's before the next party...

Have a great day!

Angela
