The Last Day of School -- 2012

School's out!!

A small sampling of the kids' work this year.

Some of May-Mays nature observation sketches.  Every time I see her artwork, I am amazed.

Friday was our last day of school.  So we partied -- of course.  There was ice cream cake and punch, and even a sugarless Chocolate Covered Katie recipe for me.  There were presents -- just small token gifts to thank my kids for working so hard for me this year, but the kids seemed pleased.

Even Pickle Mickle got something for being the school mascot.

We tie-dyed.  By the end of the day, Rocket Boy had somehow managed to paint himself green, in spite of the fact that he had multiple pairs of gloves and very clear instructions.  He looked like Kermit the Frog.  I had to make him strip down and scrub in the tub.  Now he just looks slightly nauseous.  Or part Martian.  I'm hoping it wears off by the time he goes to college.  I don't know what the admissions office would think of a slightly green homeschool student.  They think we are weird enough as it is.

I can hardly wait to see how they turn out.  The shirts.  Not the Martians.

After waiting...

           and waiting....

                              and waiting....

Here they are.  Summer, here we come!!

And May-May finally got to drive her car for the first time.  She did great.  Well, actually, she did that Thursday, but it was our last day of school work, so that counts, right?

All in all, it was a good day.  I hope yours was, too.

  1. Wow! Mahaley's sketches are unbelievable! What a gift! Hopefully your martian doesn't match the tie-dye shirt by the end of summer. :)

  2. I figure: Green Grass + Green Kid = Great Summer. I'm still working on stomaching the part where everyone he meets thinks he doesn't wash his hands....
