Perk Up Your Water: Recipes
Are you trying to drink more water each day? Is your water getting a little boring? I try to drink at least a gallon of water each day, and trust me, water flavored water gets dull when you're drinking that much. So I change it up sometimes.
I feel silly calling these recipes, because they are just too simple to be a real recipe. We will call them "ideas" instead. So here are a few "Perk Up Your Water Ideas".
Cucumber Lime Water
Slice a cucumber and a lime into a gallon pitcher. Fill with filtered water. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors. Enjoy. The cucumber is surprisingly refreshing and is often used in the drinks served in spas. It also adds some vitamins to the water. The lime (or lemon in the next idea) helps detoxify your body.
Cucumber Lemon Water
Slice a cucumber and a lemon into a gallon pitcher. Fill with filtered water. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors. Enjoy some more.
Cucumber Mint Water
Slice a cucumber into a gallon pitcher. Dump in the leaves from a couple sprigs of fresh mint. Fill the pitcher with filtered water. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors. Awesome and refreshing!
Apple Cinnamon Water
Slice an apple into your gallon pitcher. Throw in a cinnamon stick. Fill with filtered water. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors and sip with joy. The apple adds sweetness without adding calories. The cinnamon actually helps regulate blood sugar levels and raises metabolism. And besides, it tastes great.
Just a little note: If you are concerned that drinking a gallon of water a day will send you running for the nearest little girls' or boys' room, let me put your fears to rest. At first, yes it probably will. But in just a few days, your body will adjust and things will normalize. Your body is finally getting the water it so desperately needs and it will thank you.
Happy Hydration,
Angela
P.S. If you have been enjoying the "Organize Your Day" posts, have no fear. More posts on that topic are in the works.
